The film follows the original rave generation, so the brief was a South London club that felt like it had been running since the early 90s and never been redecorated. We built SUB-161 off the Old Kent Road — the frontage, the entrance corridor and the main room.

Everything on the walls was made for nights that never happened. Submerge, Vortex, Horizon, Static Wave, Freefall — each with its own lineup, promoter and print treatment, layered and weathered so the wall read as ten years of fly-posting rather than one dressing day. The palette ran acid green and magenta against the greens of the existing building.
